Time for an Update, methinks :)

Yep, the shirt is (almost) done - just need to hem the sleeves and fix up the bottom because it's way too long. No, I don't have a picture to go along with it. All I have to say is that I added lace and a band where elastic is supposed to go - but I put ribbon instead :) It's prettier.

SO! Let's make a quick assessment of my original design. (Again is too lazy to scan it)


Yep, it's time to redesign the skirt :) I've got some fabrics in mind, as well as some ruffly skirts in my closet, that I think I'll use :D

Right, so...my shirt is sitting on my lap right now, as I am being distracted by writing, etc. :) The sleeves are attached, I am working on the gathered neckline to which I have added lace...it looks...simply marvelous.

Can you tell yet I am overly proud of my sleeves?

OKAY! So sort of got sidetracked by my writing and brother's b-day celebration, but I feel like I'm moving in the right direction. Each half of the sleeve nowlooks like this:

Again, got distracted...but the main sleeves are together and gathered like in the chemise pattern and they look great!

The beginning...August 17, 2009. 11 am.

(The beginning of a fine mess).

After endless searches on DeviantArt and through my pattern library, I have decided on my idea for the shirt! I was least looking forward to this but I started it first and it looks like it's going to be good. It's a conglomeration of these:

(Yep, I'm too lazy to turn them right side up for you. Just flip the screen upside down. :) )

With some modifications, of course :) I want lacy sleeves and a sort of rakish off the shoulder look. I dunno how well it'll go with the corset and skirt but I'm going to experiment.

Oh, and it occurs to me I haven't even said what I'm doing. It's a genre called steampunk. Go look it up on DeviantArt, that's what I did :)

I've got the sleeve mod pattern done and have decided to add something intresting. A raggy brown fabric I love to the off white eyelet! It's gonna be on the upper sleeve...*nervous* I hope this turns out as good as it looks in my mind!

Costume Crazed...Wherin I Shall Document My Costume-Making

Hey anyone and everyone! So I'm seeing all these how-to guides etc...and I think I'm experienced enough now to share my costume-making knowledge with the world!!! mwhahaha!!!

I will post some old pictures of costumes, but going to focus on documenting my process for costume making. Stay tuned...there is a project on my table as we speak :)
